Design a Shelter for an Animal

Study the shelters animals live in, then design one of your own.

• Find out that animals need shelter, and choose one animal to design a shelter for.
• Compare natural shelters such as nests, shells and hollow trees with human-made ones such as kennels, cages, kraals and stables.
• Work out whether your shelter should be a shell structure or a frame structure, and what shape, size and materials suit it.
• Design and draw your shelter, showing its purpose, shape, size and materials.
• Evaluate whether your design is suitable for your animal, and say what you would change.
